Letlive - Camden Electric Ballroom - July 13th 2025

Following their killer show earlier in the week, letlive. hit the Electric Ballroom again on July 13 and once again brought an even bigger dose of chaos and catharsis to Camden. Following their set at 2000 Trees the day before, the LA band ended their UK run with a heartfelt show back at the Ballroom.

Support acts Native James and Last Hounds smashed it as expected, bringing great energy and setting the tone for the night, phenomenal picks for this tour. The show was an early one with doors at 6:30 and Native James on at 6:45 so it was good to see so many filtering in to catch these hyped supports, both of which look to take the scene by storm and become even bigger names in the UK scene.

Come main show time, letlive, essentially decimated the Electric Ballroom for the second time in a week. Frontman Jason Aalon Butler is utterly unstoppable. He stormed across stage, splashing water, shredding vocals and riling up the London crowd. The room was a sea of voices and heartfelt choruses, crowd surfers and longtime fans who gathered to see the bands ‘farewell run. Skyler Acord joined letlive for this run, fans of the alternative scene will recognise Skyler from Issues but he has also supported Bilmuri, The Home Team and even Twenty One Pilots as a touring bassist in the last few years!

They ripped into the crowd with “Le Prologue” and barreled through fan favourites like “Banshee (Ghost Fame)”, “Muther” and “Dreamer’s Disease”. Each track hit as hard for me as the day I first heard them back in 2013 when I first started listening to the band. Jason delivers the most perfect mix of visceral aggression and emotional depth. Jessie from Dream State came out to sing the section on “Muther” which was a great surprise and added to the back and forth section of the heartbreaking song. Banshee was a highlight for me, the song dropped back in 2013 and I remember stumbling across the video on YouTube right before I was setting off for Download festival, wishing that letlive were at the festival as my obsession grew fast. The Blackest Beautiful was a gateway album for me into the more ‘hardcore’ side of alternative music and it was a real full-circle moment to catch these songs again after not seeing the band for 9 years. The last time I had seen them was Camden Underworld in 2016, a lifetime ago it seems!

What really hit home was the emotional undercurrent through the madness. The highs were insane, mosh pits, crowd surfing (of course), the energy and when they dialled it back, it punched harder. "Pheromone Cvlt" had some great singalong, stripped back parts with the crowd - another standout highlight of the night for me.

Tight musicianship, Butler’s unhinged and let's be honest, unrivaled presence, and a crowd alive in every sense made for one of those shows I’ll remember for years. They closed with “Day 54” an epic closer wrapped in nostalgia and defiance. If this really is their last tour, Sunday’s show was a statement: letlive. went out on fire, leaving the Electric Ballroom smoldering and us fans breathless. Let’s hope this truly isn’t the end for the band, even though this was their belated ‘farewell tour’ it seems the political landscape from whence the band was born is repeating. The world needs more bands like letlive who take the stand and mix emotional themes with blaring music that lets you escape your feelings whilst connecting with others who may also feel the same way and stand for the same values.

Letlive soul punx forever
