Lights Makes Nashville Feel Alive Again

On May 28th, Nashville played host to an electric evening as Lights brought her (A)live Again tour to town, joined by rising alt-pop artist King Mala. The night unfolded as a celebration of music, self-expression, and community. as I was chatting with a few people in the crowd, one thing was made clear from the start. Lights fans are some of the kindest, most passionate souls you’ll ever meet.
King Mala opened the night with so much confidence and infectious energy. Her presence was magnetic while commanding the stage, effortlessly connecting with the crowd. By the second track, she had the room bouncing, dancing, and fully engaged. As an opener, she did more than warm up the stage. She ignited it, setting the perfect tone for what was to come.

Lights took the stage to roaring applause, launching into “Day Two,” the atmospheric opener from her latest album, A6. The crowd responded in kind, and by the time she hit “Damage,” fans were shouting every lyric back at her.

Describing A6 as a record that weaves together the different eras of her musical journey, Lights delivered a thoughtfully curated setlist that bridged past and present. A highlight came midway through with a nostalgic medley featuring fan favorites like “Savior” and “Second Go,” which drew an especially emotional response from longtime fans like myself.

She closed the night with “Alive Again,” a powerful finale that echoed her evolution as an artist while honoring the roots that first endeared her to listeners. For many in the crowd it was a full-circle moment, especially for me recalling the early days of discovering her music on back in 2009.
From start to finish, the show was a reminder of Lights’ ability to evolve while staying deeply connected to her roots and her fans. Paired with King Mala’s breakout performance, it was an unforgettable night that struck the perfect balance between fresh energy and heartfelt nostalgia.
