Not Even A Tennessee Tornado Could Stop the Chaos & Carnage 2024 Tour
It was an early show in Nashville, but there was already a line of people scaling the side of the building for the 4:00 PM door call. Thunderstorms were in the area and even had a few Tornado Watches throughout the night, but that didn’t deter fans from this incredible experience to see all of the talent on the same stage in one night. Chaos and Carnage has been a big event for me through the years, and it was where I first discovered my love for Lorna Shore. This year was no different, with an absolutely stacked lineup. It included something for all fans, old and new alike. Veterans, Cattle Decapitation, and Carnifex co-headlined the tour with support from Rivers of Nihil, Humanity’s Last Breath, The Zenith Passage, Vitriol, and Face Yourself. Each band brought their A-game and gave the fans everything they had. The crowd responded with a relentless mosh pit that never stopped moving the entire night and multiple Walls of Death.
Personally, Face Yourself was the highlight of the night for me. Fans filed in and got to the barricade early to see what the band had in store. The New York-based band is fairly new to the scene, but they released not one but three EPs last year. They opened the set with “Grosse Bagarre” and essentially punched the crowd right in the mouth. The looks on the crowd’s faces made me chuckle a bit. The vocalist, Yasmine Liverneaux Belkhodja, wasn’t able to make it this run. However, Corey Doremus, who usually plays guitar for the band, filled in on vocals, and there was absolutely zero drop-off. The drummer, Eric DiCarlo, is an absolute machine with his precision and technical skill. They finished the set with my personal favorite, "Guillotine," and absolutely set the bar for what the rest of the night should be.
