This World Fucking Sucks Tour Review

This World Fucking Sucks Tour Review

The evening of Thursday, 11th of April, “This World Fucking Sucks” tour ended their Uk run in London’s Scala, which started with a DJ set from Filthy Pig – a masked Drum and Bass collective. Heavy tones were intertwined with rock and metal classics from Paramore and Foo Fighters to Sleep Token. Filthy Pig served a good taster of what was about to shake the venue.

The London-based, self-proclaimed “Goth Metal Mommy” Harpy is taking her first steps into the alternative scene in the UK. Harpy was a perfect starter for such a badass lineup. The skilful singer rocked the stage from the very beginning, performing her singles released in 2022 and 2023 - “Inside Out” and “Medicine”. Powerful vocals cemented her exceptional performance and if that wasn't enough she performed her newest single "Slaughterhouse" that was released 2 weeks ago. The industrial sound suits her vibe, and it is good step into the future. I look forward to hearing more from Harpy soon.

The quartet, Witch Fever, brought back good old UK punk scene tradition into Scala. Moreover, this band proved how strong and charismatic their performances are. During their third song of the night - “Congregation” - the vocalist, Amy, without the blink of an eye, jumped into the crowd and started to sing with the whole crowd surrounding her. I was thoroughly impressed by their performance. Chapeau bas. But do not be fooled this quartet is showing big tunes and power. Their fourth tune - “Reincarnate” - also showed their slower side that resonated with me. Something that caught me by surprise was a phenomenal a cappella ending of “Bully Boy”. Unusual but stunning encore. As someone who normally does not listen to post-punk. This band has a tonne of potential. Viva the Witch Fever!

Before Cassyette showed up on stage to rock Scala, I would like to point out an unbelievably beautiful moment that happened straight after Witch Fever wrapped up their set. It was amazing to hear Bambie Thug’s Eurovision 2024 entry and Cassyette’s co-writing effort - “Doomsday Blue”. You could feel that the friendship and professional bond between these two is going strong and it was a great warm up to her performance. I hope one day the British public broadcaster – BBC – will be brave enough to invite Cassyette to represent the UK in Eurovision like RTE did after public selection for Bambie in Ireland.

The show started with stunning visuals projected on stage accompanied by “Degeneration Nation” in the background. After the intro wrapped, Cassyette smoothly entered the stage with one of her recently released singles - “Ipecac”. Her interactions with the crowd from the very first minute were impeccable. You could feel the incredibly special bond with her fans. Her energetic aura did not stop for a second, even during slower songs like track four of her London set - “September Rain”. The bond with her fans was further cemented when before the song "Over It”, she invited everyone to take a photo alongside her. It was such a cute and wholesome touch. "Over It” made the whole venue sway - from the stalls to the guest area filled with her friends and family. In between songs, she also took a minute to give an insight to her upcoming debut album "This World Fucking Sucks”. I admired her polished vocal technique during whole set. Mixing sung and screamed vocals like there was no tomorrow with her signature rasp. Something I found also touching was how she expressed her emotions both on spoken and sung vocals so flawlessly. In my eyes, Cassyette is the purest and most emotional artist I have seen in recent months. This claim strongly backs her final track of the night - “Dear Goth”. This song is half-prayer, half-confession to her proclaimed „Goth” which sounded nothing but poignant. Lastly, I would like to add that Cassyette nails that rockstar nail in the pop rock coffin, performing until last minute (she crowd surfed like there was no tomorrow) and only reassures you she is absolutely the right person to be at the top of her career. This girl deserves to sell out arenas and not only be the support act for the biggest. Her name should be reckoned with, and I am excited for her to blow up, being her best authentic self just like on Thursday night.
